When the Government had multiple constructions at the same time, there would be much competition for each stage and each material products needed. After some time the iron and steel companies with the biggest abilities for supply would try to form an agreement secretly to get higher prices for each building project. It did not take long when the bids came in for each project for A B Mullett to discover agreements were made to control prices.
As these became known and it was almost always before any company won the contract, A B Mullett would contact these and break up the pact made so that honest bidding would result. A B Mullett was against monopolies. He made every effort to ensure best prices for best materials and best workmanship.
